How this dashboard works
Hi everyone — a quick guide to this new tool we're building for you, and how to get the most out of it.
The big picture
Behind the scenes, your whole project lives in large, traditional construction spreadsheets — parent/child rows, Gantt charts, dates, the works. Our team updates the dates and notes on that back-end schedule, and this dashboard pulls from it to translate all of that into something you can actually read. Getting into the habit of updating the schedule daily is something we're actively working on, so bear with us there.
Help us keep it honest
If you ever see something that you know isn't current, please tell us — I'll make sure the team gets it corrected. You knowing your own project is one of the best ways to keep this accurate.
A work in progress
This is early, and honestly, AI is still a bit of a child these days. We're taking hundreds of tasks and notes — often written in builder/architect/engineering shop talk — and trying to translate them into plain, homeowner-friendly language. The goal is to give you real transparency without over-reporting every little thing, so the team can keep moving. It's a balance, and we're tuning it as we go. The more feedback you give us, the better it gets.
Right now, all the back-end data is updated by a small core team — me (Carl), Frank and the Visual team, and Jon on the build side. Down the road we hope to bring the superintendent in on it too.
Where this is headed
Today this is read-only for you, and entry still happens in the big spreadsheet on our end. The future we're building toward is letting the crew and subs enter updates right from the jobsite through a simple form — so the information flows straight from the person who did the work that day to this dashboard. That's a big shift in how the industry usually works, and it's what we're experimenting with next.
A tour of the page
What You Need to Know Right Now — the black box up top. A high-level summary of what's happening and what matters most this moment. I (Carl, your client rep) curate this by hand each week, pushing up the things that won't automatically pull from the schedule. If you read one thing, read this.
Build Schedule — the Gantt-style view of where we are in each phase of construction over time. A clean visual of what's active and what's coming.
Schedule (week by week) — a friendly overview of what each department is doing, week by week, and who's doing what. It puts this week and next week front and center; you can expand to see completed weeks and further-out weeks whenever you want.
Project Team — your contact list for the whole team, on the right.
Who's Got the Ball (Project Journal) — this is fed by the pink form on the right. Every question, request, or idea you submit goes into our project journal. As client rep, I watch this list — anything that comes in through the form hits me first, and I route it out to the right team member. If something's sitting on your plate (Homeowner) that shouldn't be, just tell us and we'll clear it off your list. When you respond to something by email or phone, you may also get an update request from us that keeps things current automatically.
The Order Board — your materials and selections, broken down by showroom. These are the stores you may need to visit in person to pick finishes. Frank, who leads design and purchasing, manages this list — you'll see who's responsible for getting each material selected, priced, ordered, and eventually delivered to site.
